A Wild Unpaved Road to Menoaneng Pass in the Central Highlands of Lesotho

Menoaneng Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3,038 m (9,967 ft) above sea level, located in the Mokhotlong district of Lesotho. At this altitude, the drive is not for the faint of heart. It’s one of the highest roads in the country.

Located in the Central Highlands of the country, the road to the summit is totally unpaved and quite steep. Due to its degraded condition and lack of maintenance, this pass definitely requires 4×4 skills to navigate safely.

How Long is the Road to Menoaneng Pass?

The pass is 48.28 miles (77.7 km) long, running from Molumong to Mohlanapeng. The drive offers incredible scenery, with many mountain villages and a stunning view across Lesotho’s central mountain highlands.
