Road LM-119
Carretera LM-119 is one of the scariest roads in the world. It’s located in Santo Domingo de los Olleros District, province Huarochirí in Peru.
The road is 75.8 km (47 miles) long, running entirely over 2.500 meters above the sea level. Driving at night, or in poor visibility, is not recommended for drivers unfamiliar with the road. This is definitely not a Sunday drive. Drive with care as this is a mountain road with dangerous dropoffs. A vertical fall of 1.000m is awaiting you on every turn. With drops that appear to be hundreds, if not a thousand feet to the side, experienced drivers are the only ones who should attempt this route. Its highest elevation is at 3635m (11,925ft) above the sea level.
This route is not recommended if your passengers are prone to car sickness. With hundreds of turns (most of them hairpinned), the drive will take some skill, some patience, and some tolerance for vertigo. It's very intense because there are no guard rails at the edge and there is little room for error if oncoming traffic swerves in your direction. It’s a shortcut from LI-117 road to Calle 119 of Lima.
