Located in the southern part of the country, within the Área de Conservación Regional Choquequirao, the road to the summit is totally unpaved. Expect a trail that is pretty steep, with more than 50 hairpin turns. Due to its high elevation, the road is not easy.

The pass road is 39.8 km (24.73 miles) long, running east-west from Colcapampa to Yanama.
