Laguna Pumacocha: this road is not for timid drivers
Laguna Pumacocha is a high mountain lagoon at an elevation of 4.370m (14,337ft) above the sea level, located in the Yauyos Province, in the Lima Region of Peru.
Nestled in the Cordillera Central in the Andes of Peru, the road to the lagoon is totally unpaved and very narrow, impassable for 2 cars at the same time. The road tops out at 4.920m (16,141ft) above the sea level.
The drive is very scenic, with stunning views of glacial lakes. This is a mountainous area, climbing up a high mountain, with a notorius absence of oxygen. Starting from Huancapallca, the road is 18.3 km (11.37 miles) long.
