Road 1SC
Carretera 1SC is one of the most extreme roads on Earth. Located in southern Peru, your wheels will be astounded at the wonderful views of the mountains spread out before you! They are terrible for drivers who are prone to vertigo.
The road is gravel. It’s 104 km long with 60 hairpin turns. In many places the road is bordered by a drop of hundreds of meters (many hundreds of feet) unprotected by guardrails. It’s definitely not a “Sunday drive”. This road tests the skill, and courage, of any driver. It’s definitely not for anyone suffering from vertigo or a fear of landslides The road is extremely steep and links the city of Ica is the capital of the Ica Region, at an elevation of 406m (1,332ft) above the sea level and Huaytará, the capital of the province Huaytará, at 2.658m above the sea level. With such a high summit altitude the road can be closed anytime due to snowfalls. The zone is prone to heavy mist and can be dangerous in low visibility conditions. One mistake and it's a free fall to your death.
