Laguna Tarusmachay
Laguna Tarusmachay is a high mountain lake at an elevation of 4.443m (14,576ft) above the sea level, located in Central Peru, in the province Junín in the region Junín.
The road to the lake is gravel. The road is pretty narrow and steep. Do not travel this road in severe weather conditions. Avalanches, heavy snowfalls and landslides can occur anytime. The climb is simply terrible, with a notorius lack of oxygen that tests the organisms and a high degree of steepness. Most people feel altitude sickness at around 2,500-2,800 meters. Near the lake, oxygen is in short supply.
