The road to the lake is called PA-106. It’s very rough--only try driving it in a 2wd car, if you're planning to buy a new car. The drive includes several unlit tunnels. It’s pretty narrow. Avalanches, heavy snowfalls and landslides can occur anytime, being extremely dangerous due to frequent patches of ice. The climb is simply terrible, with a notorius lack of oxygen that tests the organisms and a high degree of steepness. Most people feel altitude sickness at around 2,500-2,800 meters. Near the summit, oxygen is in short supply.
