Road trip guide: Conquering Crucero Alto
Crucero Alto is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 4.528m (14,855ft) above the sea level, located in the Puno department, in southeastern Peru.
The road to the summit is mostly asphalted. It’s called Carretera 34C. Remember this is a mountainous area, climbing up a high mountain, with a notorius absence of oxygen. Altitude and extreme weather are always a factor. The road is 72.9 km (45.29 miles) long, running north-south from Santa Lucía to Eslagunero.
