A curvy paved road to Tipon ruins
Tipon Inca ruins are located in southeastern Peru, near the Urubamba Valley of the Andes mountain range.
This archeological complex, where water runs by carved stone canals of Inca origin, is located at a height of 3.560m (11,684ft) above the sea level. The road to reach the ruins is asphalted. It’s very exciting and sometimes very exposed and unsecured driveway in innumerable twists and turns. The road, located east of Cusco, allows the access to the ruins, not only and example of the knowledge in hydraulic engineering developed by the Incas, but also a lovely place with a fantastic system of terraces.
Avalanches, heavy snowfalls and landslides can occur anytime and can sometimes block some sections of the road. Starting from Choquepata, the road is 3.9km long, via 4 sharp hairpin turns. The road is very steep.
