Tucked away in the province La Convención, within Puyas De Raymondi National Park, the road to the summit is totally unpaved. It’s called CU-100.

How long is the road to Abra Chucuito?

The road through the summit is about 300km (186 miles) long, running from Santa Maria to Andahuaylas. A high-clearance vehicle is required, and a 4x4 vehicle is recommended.

How challenging is the road to Abra Chucuito?

Set high in the Vilcabamba mountain range of the Andes, it’s a traditional Peruvian mountain road, featuring narrow parts, steep sections, dangerous drop-offs, and lacking guardrails, so the fall might be fatal.
