Azufrera Tacora
Azufrera Tacora is an abandoned sulphur mine at an elevation of 4.518m (14,822ft) above the sea level, located on the border of Chile and Peru.

The gravel and rocky road to this abandoned mine, located in the ghost town of Aguas Calientes, is called A-107. It’s a 4x4 track. The climb is simply terrible, with a notorius lack of oxygen that tests the organisms and a high degree of steepness. Most people feel altitude sickness at around 2,500-2,800 meters. Do not travel this road in severe weather conditions. Starting from Tacora, at 4.090m above the sea level, the track is 15.3 km long. Stay on the track: danger, mine field.
