An epic road to Abra Mina Maricunga in the Andes
Abra Mina Maricunga is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 4.567m (14,983ft) above the sea level, located in the Atacama Region of Chile.
Set high in the Andes mountain range, the road to the summit is totally unpaved but navigable by all passenger vehicles. It’s called C-353. Remember this is a mountainous area, climbing up a high mountain, with a notorius absence of oxygen. Altitude and extreme weather are always a factor. Starting from La Guardia, the road to the summit is 61.4 km (38.15 miles) long. It’s a steep drive.
