Travel guide to the top of Mullu Apachita
Mullu Apachita is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 5.018m (16,463ft) above the sea level, located in La Paz Department, in Bolivia. It's one of the highest mountain roads of the country.
The road to the pass, located within the Cordillera Real of the Bolivian Andes, is unpaved. It’s 40.4 km (25 mile) long, linking the villages of Calapuncu and Peñas. 4x4 vehicle recommended. The pass is also known as Paso Amahuaya, Mollo Apacheta and Cumbre Mollo. Remember this is a mountainous area, climbing up a high mountain, with a notorius absence of oxygen. Altitude and extreme weather are always a factor.
