A steep challenging road to Abra Tres Cruces
Abra Tres Cruces is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 4.729m (15,515ft) above the sea level, located in La Paz, a department situated at the western border of Bolivia. It's one of the highest roads of the country.
The pass is located on the road between Konani (60kms) and Quime (26kms). It cuts straight through the heart of the Tres Cruces range (also known as Quimsa Cruz), amidst beautiful scenery. Avalanches and heavy snowfalls can sometimes block some sections of the road. The whole climb from Konani is on tarmac and is rarely steep. Most of the descent is unpaved, the gradients are steeper and many areas of the road are prone to landslides.
