Situated in the southern part of the country, near the border with Argentina, the road is completely unpaved, with stretches of sand and rocks running entirely above 3,100m above sea level. It’s a very challenging drive, and you’ll even have to cross a river. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended. The route tops out at 4,236m (13,897 ft) above sea level.
How Long is the Road from Tupiza to Quiriza?
This corrugated road stretches 63.9 km (39.70 miles), running north-south from Tupiza (a wild, remote, yet extremely beautiful town at 3,160m above sea level) to the mining town of Quiriza (at an elevation of 3,598m above sea level).
