Pirquitas Mine
Mina Pirquitas is a high mountain town at an elevation of 4.340m (14,240ft) above the sea level, located in Jujuy Province in Argentina. It’s one of the highest towns accessible by car on Earth.
The road to the town, the highest Argentinian year-round settlement, is gravel. The climb is simply terrible, with a notorius lack of oxygen that tests the organisms and a high degree of steepness. The surface on this gravel road is often loose, especially along the sides of the road. Due its unique location and the climb in elevation over thousands of feet, and passing through remote areas, it is important when driving in these conditions to be prepared. The town lies in one of the most important mining areas.
