Abra del Gallo is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 4,630m (15,190ft) above sea level, located in Salta Province, Argentina. It's one of the highest roads in the country.

Is Abra del Gallo Unpaved?

Set high in the northwestern part of the country, the road to the summit is completely unpaved. It is called Ruta Provincial 129 (RP129) and consists of ripio, gravel, and some sandy sections. While the road is reasonably steep, its surface is generally manageable.

How Long is Abra del Gallo?

The road through the pass is 98km (61 miles) long, running west to east from Salar de Pocitos to Chorrillos. The pass offers stunning views of Nevado Queva to the west.
