Ruta Provincial 70 (RP70) is a high mountain dirt track located in the Jujuy province of Argentina.

Located in the extreme northwest of the country, at the borders with Chile and Bolivia, the road is totally unpaved. It’s 41km (25.47 miles) long.
Where does Ruta Provincial 70 start and end?
The road starts at the junction with the Ruta Provincial 7, near the Pozuelos Lake (‘Monumento Natural Laguna de los Pozuelos’) in the Departments of Yavi, Santa Catalina and Rinconada. It’s an important lake with an area of 180,000 square meters and at an altitude of 4320 m.a.s.l, making it one of the most important and beautiful watercourses of the province. It is considered a Biosphere Reserve. The road ends in Liviara, at the junction with Ruta Nacional 40 (National Route 40 or RN40, often called Ruta 40), the longest route in Argentina and one of the largest in the world.
When is the best time to drive Ruta Provincial 70?
It’s a high mountain road, as it climbs up to 4343m (14,248ft) above sea level in Médano de Fundiciones. The area can be visited year-round. In the southern hemisphere summer, there may be difficulties accessing due to rainfalls. Ask in Abra Pampa or Cieneguilla about the condition of the road.
