Situated in the extreme northwestern part of the country, the road to the summit is fully unpaved and is known as Ruta Provincial 7 (RP7). A high-clearance vehicle is required, and a 4x4 might be necessary after bad weather. The drive is quite challenging, featuring numerous hairpin turns and steep sections.

The road spans 67.2 km (41.75 miles), running from west to east, starting at Abra del Lizoite and ending at Santa Victoria Oeste (the head of the Santa Victoria Department). If you're apprehensive about high mountain roads with countless turns, this road might not be the best choice for you.
