Is the road through Abra de la Cruz unpaved?
Set high in the extreme northwestern part of the country, the road to the summit is entirely unpaved. It's called Ruta Provincial 15. A high-clearance vehicle is required, and a 4x4 vehicle might be necessary after bad weather. The drive is pretty challenging with countless hairpin turns and steep sections.

The pass is 50.4 km (31.31 miles) long, running from Rodeo Colorado (in Salta Province) to Casillas (in Jujuy Province).
