Forest Road 564
Forest Road 564 is a very scenic high mountain road located in the San Juan Mountains, in Montezuma County, the southwesternmost county in the U.S. state of Colorado.
The road runs entirely over 3.100m above the sea level. It’s gravel with some very narrow sections. Many parts of the trail are very steep and rocky. The trail is 19.79km (12.3 miles) long running north-south from County Road South to County Road 435. 4x4 vehicle recommended. The road is not plowed in winters. Its highest elevation is at 3.341m (10,961ft) above the sea level. The area is notorious for severe thunderstorms and lightning on summer afternoons. Conditions can quickly change and become dangerous.
