Forest Road 697
Forest Road 697 (Casto Canyon Trail) is a very scenic high mountain road located in Garfield County, in Utah, in the westcentral region of the United States of America.
The road runs entirely over 2.400m above the sea level. It’s gravel with some very narrow sections, totally impassable for 2 cars at the same time. The trail is 4.50km (2.8 miles) long. 4x4 vehicle required.
It’s usually impassable in winters. Its highest elevation is at 2.501m (8,205ft) above the sea level. The end of the road offers a stunning 360º view. Road conditions are always changing. It can be a reasonably easy drive in favourable dry conditions, but also has the potential to be a very difficult muddy and slippery track -and at times impassable- after wet weather.
