Cascade Lake
Cascade Lake is a high mountain lake at an elevation of 3.100m (10,170ft) above the sea level, located in Carbon County, in the U.S. state of Wyoming.
The road to the lake, located within the Medicine Bow National Forest, in the Snowy Range, gets super hairy winding through meadows. It is gravel, rocky and treacherous in parts. It’s called NFSR 103. Weather conditions can change quickly and be harsh. Road closures can be frequent. It is only recommended for high clearance, narrow, four-wheel drive vehicles.
Only travel on this road when it is dry. As always, check road conditions before departing. The road is difficult and it’s a nightmare in the wet or dark (or both). Altitude and extreme weather is always a factor at any time of year.
