Tucked away in the southern part of California, the road is 18.18 km (11.3 miles) long, running from the Pacific Coast Highway to Mulholland Highway.

How challenging is the Yerba Buena Road?

It is completely paved but narrow in parts. It’s a downhill winding road with many twists and turns. Remember that this is a Slide Area, so the road is subject to closure at any time. The drive is narrow and winding. Some drivers regularly exceed the posted speed limit while coming downhill, which increases the chance of losing control as the road curves at the bottom. There are random rocks, sand, and sharp curves with no guardrails.

Is the Yerba Buena Road steep?

Set high in the Santa Monica Mountains, the road tops out at 705 m (2,312 ft) above sea level and reaches a maximum gradient of 11% through some of the ramps. The wooded environment and views of the Pacific are definitely worth it.
