Bodie Bluff
Bodie Bluff is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 2.747m (9,012ft) above the sea level, located situated high in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, in Mono County, California, United States.
The road to the summit is gravel, rocky, tippy and bumpy at times. One mistake can have serious consequences. Road conditions are always changing. Avoid committing your vehicle to what is in front of you until you are sure of what you are getting into because things could get worse. 4x4 vehicle required. A traveler on this road must be experienced and completely devoted to safe, slow and obstacle-conscious driving to deter danger. This is definitely not a Sunday drive. The steep drive will take some skill, some patience, and some tolerance for vertigo. Stay alert for potential turnouts as you may meet traffic in inconvenient locations. The peak is named for Waterman S. Body (William Bodey), who had discovered small amounts of gold in hills north of Mono Lake. It can be righteously hot by midsummer and buried in snow in wintertime. Winter weather is often unpredictable. Sub-zero temperatures, strong winds and white-out conditions are not uncommon. It's hot during the summer, and potentially very cold during the winter. The weather can be changeable and layered clothing is recommended. Many four wheel drive vehicles get stuck each year in the powdery snow that is deeper than it first appears.
