The Wild And Steep Road to Pilot Peak in Mineral County
Pilot Peak is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 2.795m (9,169ft) above the sea level, located in Mineral County, in the U.S. state of Nevada.
Set high in the Pilot Range, the road to the summit is totally unpaved. 4x4 vehicle required. There’s a radio facility on the peak and the mountain dominates the view for many miles.
Located south of Luning in eastern Nevada, the road to the summit is steep. Starting at the paved US-95, the ascent is 14.88km (9.24 miles) long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 1.395 meters. The average gradient is 9.37%.
