The road to the lake is called Forest Road 300 (Louis Lake Road), locally known as the Loop Road. It’s mostly paved with many hairpin turns. Trailers over 24 feet are not allowed.

The road is 59.06 km (36.7 miles) long, running north-south from Lander (the county seat of Fremont County) to Dickinson Avenue, north of Atlantic City.

Is the road to Louis Lake open in winter?

The road reaches an elevation of 2,927 m (9,603 ft) above sea level. It’s closed during winter and typically reopens around Memorial Day.
