The pass is located in the southwestern part of Montana, within the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest.
Is the road to Monument Ridge unpaved?
The road to the summit is totally unpaved. It’s called Forest Road #290 (Gravelly Range Road). The road is mostly narrow, with steep parts and many turns. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended.
How long is the road to Monument Ridge?
The road through the pass is 43 miles long, running north-south from Varney to Eureka Basin Road.
Is the road to Monument Ridge open year-round?
Set high in the Gravelly Range, the road is not plowed in winters.
