Black Butte Mountain
Black Butte Mountain is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.860m (9,383ft) above the sea level, located in Madison County, in southwestern Montana, in USA.
The road to the summit, located within the Gravelly Range, is gravel, rocky, tippy and bumpy at times. It’s called Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest road #290 (Gravelly Range Road). The road is usually impassable in winters. Great trail for experienced wheelers. Avoid driving in this area if unpaved mountain roads aren't your strong point. 4x4 recommended. Stay away if you're scared of heights. Expect a trail pretty steep. Wet conditions may make for tough driving along the muddy road.
