The road to the summit is totally unpaved. It’s an old mining road, and a 4x4 vehicle is required. Starting from County Road 3, the ascent is 6km (3.72 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 402 meters. The average gradient is 6.7%.

Is the road to Prospect Mountain in Lake County open in winter?

Set high in the Mosquito Range of the Rocky Mountains, the road is usually impassable in winter.
