Where is Snow Valley Peak?

The peak is located east of Lake Tahoe, in the western part of Nevada, within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. From the summit Mound House, Carson City, Lake Tahoe, Reno and Carson Valley are all clearly visible.

The road to the summit is totally unpaved, very narrow and steep. It features 4 hairpin turns. A 4x4 vehicle is required. The road is blocked by a gate.

Is the road to Snow Valley Peak open year-round?

Set high in the Carson Range of the Sierra Nevada, the road is not plowed in winters.
