Mammoth Mountain is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 3.364m (11,036ft) above sea level, located in Madera County, in the U.S. state of California. It’s one of the highest roads in California.

The peak is located in the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, at the geographic center of California, within the Inyo National Forest.
Is the road to Mammoth Mountain unpaved?
The road to the summit is totally unpaved. It is mostly used to provide access to maintain ski lifts and lodges. The last part of the climb is very intimidating. 4x4 only.
Is the road to Mammoth Mountain open in summers?
Located along the east side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, at the summit there’s a café bar called Eleven53. It’s said to be the highest cafe in California. The trail is open in the months when snow skiing is not available.
