Pioneer Mountain
Pioneer Mountain is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 3.004m (9,855ft) above the sea level, located in Madison County, in the U.S. state of Montana. It’s one of the highest mountain roads of Montana.
The road to the summit is gravel. 4x4 only. It’s located in the Big Sky Resort. A 4WD vehicle and an experienced driver are recommended. Avoid driving in this area if unpaved mountain roads aren't your strong point. Stay away if you're scared of heights. The trail is open in the months when snow skiing is not available. It is mostly used to provide access to maintain ski lifts and lodges. The last part of the climb is very intimidating. It is well above timberline, and the trail is not wide at all.
