Monte Encino
Monte Encino is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 3.039m (9,971ft) above the sea level, located in Rio Arriba County, in the U.S. state of New Mexico.
The road to the summit, located within the Santa Fe National Forest, is gravel and rocky. It’s called FR100A. Avoid driving in this area if unpaved mountain roads aren't your strong point. The road is well graded the whole way and most cars should be able to make the trip. Stay away if you're scared of heights. Expect a trail pretty steep. At the summit there’s a lookout tower. The Encino site was constructed in July 1950 as it presently exists. For your safety, be sure to check the weather forecast before you begin your trip. If there is a thunderstorm in the area, please do not visit a lookout. At the top of the tower is a 7 by 7 foot cab for the firewatcher.
