Kiowa Mountain
Kiowa Mountain is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 2.967m (9,734ft) above the sea level, located in Rio Arriba County, in the U.S. state of New Mexico.
The road to the summit, located within the Carson National Forest, is gravel and rocky. It’s called Forest Road 110A. It’s impassable in winters. Avoid driving in this area if unpaved mountain roads aren't your strong point. 4x4 required. Stay away if you're scared of heights. Expect a trail pretty steep. At the summit there’s a lookout tower. The base cabin was built by the CCC in 1935 and the tower is still in active use. For your safety, be sure to check the weather forecast before you begin your trip. If there is a thunderstorm in the area, please do not visit a lookout.
