Sourdough Peak
Sourdough Peak is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.076m (6,811ft) above the sea level located in Idaho County, Idaho, in USA.
The road to the summit, located in the Nez Perce National Forest, is a gravel 4wd track. It’s called NF-492. Do not travel this road in severe weather conditions. Avalanches, heavy snowfalls and landslides can occur anytime, being extremely dangerous due to frequent patches of ice. The road is a bit rocky and muddy in places. At the summit there’s a lookout constructed in 1927 and called Sourdough Peak Lookout. It was abandoned in 1969. For your safety, be sure to check the weather forecast before you begin your trip. If there is a thunderstorm in the area, please do not visit a lookout.
