Where Is Thousand Lake Mountain?

The plateau is located in the south-central part of Utah, in the easternmost section of Fishlake National Forest. Despite its name, Thousand Lake Mountain is known more for its craggy terrain than its lakes. The views from the summit of Boulder Mountain (to the south), Capitol Reef (to the east), and the Henry Mountains (to the east) are excellent.

Is the Road to Thousand Lake Mountain Unpaved?

The road to the summit, also called Flat Top, is totally unpaved. A 4x4 vehicle with high clearance is required.

How Long Is the Road to Thousand Lake Mountain?

Starting from Torrey, the road to the summit is 20km (12 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 1,340m. The average gradient is 6.70%.
