The pass, also known as South Engineer Pass, is located south of Engineer Pass, on the boundary between Hinsdale and San Juan counties, in the southwestern part of Colorado. Views from the summit are amazing.

The road to the summit is totally unpaved. High clearance four-wheel drive vehicles with short wheel base are required. It is very steep, hitting a 16% maximum gradient through some of the ramps.
