The road to the summit is completely unpaved. It’s an old mining road called Lewis Creek Road. This rugged track is steep and rocky for its entire length. Driving this road requires vehicles with 4WD, high clearance, and durable tires.

Starting from La Plata, the road to the summit is 7.0 km (4.34 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 740m, with an average gradient of 10.57%.

Is the Road to Eagle Pass Open in Winter?
