Schultz Pass
Schultz Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.468m (8,097ft) above the sea level located in the U.S. state of Arizona.
The road to the summit is the Schultz Pass Road (FR 420). It’s a well-known backcountry drive. Due its unique location and the climb in elevation over thousands of feet, and passing through remote areas, it is important when driving in these conditions to be prepared. FR 420 is graveled but suitable for passenger cars in most weather. Portions of the road may be closed due to fire activity or inclement weather; snow closes the road during winter months. Passenger vehicles are not permitted during these conditions.
This is a maintained road where a high clearance 2WD vehicle is able to travel safely at low speeds on long dry straight-of-ways, without losing control due to wash boarding, ruts, or dips. This drive provides easy access to great views of the San Francisco Peaks, cool ponderosa pine forests, lots of hiking trails, picturesque picnic spots where you can spend the day or set up camp.
