Where is Clinton Road?
Tucked away in the northern part of New Jersey, this deserted and dangerous road is located off of Route 23 in West Milford, and has no homes along and no connecting roads.
How long is Clinton Road in NJ?
Perhaps the spookiest and most haunted road in the country, this 10-mile (16 km) long paved road will feel like forever. Some of those who managed to get out of there alive describe it as “a back road to hell”, while others mention mysterious disappearances, UFO activity, ghosts, Satanic witch gatherings, you know, the usual.
Why is Clinton Road in NJ famous for?
Clinton Road is very curvy and keeps winding around between different bodies of water. It has gained notoriety over the years as an area rife with many legends of paranormal occurrences such as sightings of ghosts, strange creatures and gatherings of witches, Satanists and the Ku Klux Klan. The worst part about Clinton Road is that it is surrounded by spooky stories, so there isn’t just one ghost looking for revenge. The Cross Castle nearby, built in 1905, burned down only 14 years later, leaving the stone walls intact. Now, the same stone walls are known to lure dark congregations and worshipers of evil. If you see these groups, run as they will chase you down and kill you if you are spotted too.
What’s Dead Man’s Curve?
On this road cut through a heavily wooded area with almost no houses, it is also rumored that professional killers dispose of bodies in the surrounding woods—with one recorded case of this occurring. Near the Clinton Reservoir you’ll find a bridge and a sharp “dead man’s curve”. The story says that you can summon the ghost of a boy by tossing a coin into the lake from one of the bridges on the road. The boy is most likely to come out at night (how convenient, right?) but, unlike other ghosts, this one seems to be cool. It doesn’t want to kill you and will even return your coin.
