The road is fully paved. It’s 8.69 km (5.4 miles) long, running from the Kolob Canyons Visitor Center on Old Highway 91 to Kolob Canyons Overlook, at an elevation of 1,903m (6,243ft) above sea level.

Situated high in Zion National Park, Utah's most-visited park, the road is typically plowed and open year-round. However, winter snowfall often results in closures due to snow or ice during the winter months.

Despite its short length, the road gains 1,100 feet in under five miles. Starting from the Kolob Canyons Visitor Center, the elevation gain is 365 meters, with an average gradient of 4.20%

The drive itself takes about 11 minutes one way, but with the steep incline, turnouts, and overlooks, allow more than 30 minutes for the trip. This mountain road provides access to the northwestern part of the park, including a Visitor Center, trailheads, viewpoints, and a picnic area.
