Travelling through the Cedar Canyon Road
Cedar Canyon Road is a scenic drive located in San Bernardino County, in the southern portion of the U.S. state of California.
Located in the Mojave Desert, the road is mostly unpaved. It’s 33.47km (20.8 miles) long, running east-west across the central part of the Mojave National Preserve, connecting Kelso Cima Road with Lanfair Road. It starts as a paved road, but then becomes a graded dirt road.
The road features many steep parts. It tops out at 1.578m (5,177ft) above the sea level. After rain, sections of road can become decidedly hazardous when fast-flowing creek crossings and slippery mud can cause road. The dirt road generally is fine for sedans, but it can be badly washboarded and a few spots can be a bit washed out and sandy where drivers might be happier in a 2WD-HC vehicle.
