Built in the 1930s, the road to the lake is called Owyhee Lake Road. It’s paved with very narrow parts and is moderately steep. The drive runs along the Owyhee River.

Starting from Owyhee, the road is 36.69 km (22.8 miles) long. The drive is very scenic and picturesque, with great views. Please drive cautiously: it’s a road without guardrails and elevated about 60 feet above the water. Along the drive, there are many unlit and narrow tunnels. The road has a high risk of rockfalls. Mudslides produced by severe thunderstorms can block off the road in several places.
