Winding through rugged desert terrain, the road is entirely unpaved. The trail surface is rocky and uneven and may become rutted or experience washouts, especially after heavy rains. It features loose and chunky rock, rolling hills, blind corners, and dry creek bed crossings. Inclement weather can drastically change the road conditions. Stay alert, as wildlife like bears may be nearby.
Can I Drive My Vehicle on Pine Canyon Road?
The road is maintained for high-clearance vehicles only. Traveling with trailers is not recommended. The road may see frequent traffic throughout the day.
How Long is Pine Canyon Road?
The road is 6.59 km (4.1 miles) long. It begins 2.5 miles along Glenn Springs Road and dead-ends at a parking lot for the Pine Canyon Trailhead, at 1,467m (4,816 ft) above sea level. This short road climbs gradually but includes steep sections, with an elevation gain of 1,345 ft.
