Tucked away in the Tuna Canyon Park, in the western Santa Monica Mountains, the road is 16.41km (10.2 miles) long running south north from Pacific Coast Highway, on Latigo Beach, to Kanan Dume Road.
Is Latigo Canyon Road challenging?
The scenic, cliff-side road is pretty challenging. If you’re prone to car sickness, better avoid it. The twisty curvy drive into Latigo Canyon features a high number of technical turns. Plan about 25-30 minutes to complete the remarkable drive without stops. With spectacular views on every side, the road is steep, averaging over 7%. Be careful with the speed limit—you’ll encounter some blind corners. Like Decker Canyon Road, it’s another twisting and turning ride featuring switchbacks and tight turns. Pull over at the first 180-degree U in the road (about 1.5 miles from the Pacific Coast Highway) for a postcard-worthy view of the coast.
