Driving The Strip, the heart of Las Vegas
Located in Clark County, in the US state of Nevada, The Strip is the best-known street in all of Las Vegas. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. It is perhaps the most iconic and well-known street in the city, and indeed, one of the most famous streets in the world.
How long is The Strip in Las Vegas?
Part of the major Las Vegas Boulevard, the road, known as Las Vegas Strip National Scenic Byway, is totally paved. It’s 6.8km (4.2 miles) long. It runs north-south from the Stratosphere Tower (the tallest building in the entire state of Nevada rising to more than 1000 feet on Sahara Avenue) to the New York, New York hotel. Much of the Strip is actually in Paradise, an incorporated Nevada town, not in Las Vegas itself.
Why is The Strip famous?
The Strip is the best-known and most recognizable street in all of Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Strip never sleeps. It's bustling with activity day and night, with visitors from around the world enjoying the endless entertainment options, vibrant nightlife, and non-stop gaming action. It is a major tourist destination, drawing millions of visitors each year who come to experience the excitement, glamour, and luxury of Las Vegas. With about 42 million annual visitors it is one of the most photographed and visited avenues in the world. It's a place where people come to escape reality and indulge in the ultimate entertainment experience. The city changes between night and day. It offers a variety of fascinating visual experiences that enchant and mesmerize visitors of all ages. In the hot sun, it is difficult to walk through it, but worth it. At night, it is like a completely different place. Sin City’s main boulevard offers iconic resorts, casinos (home to 18 of the 25 largest hotels and casinos in the world), fine dining, and a world of entertainment, glitz, and glam all day and night.
What can you find on The Strip?
It's home to some of the largest and most extravagant casino-resorts in the world, including the Bellagio, Caesars Palace, the Venetian, Wynn Las Vegas, and the MGM Grand. The Strip is known for its vibrant, neon-lit signs, extravagant architecture, and themed resorts. Each hotel-casino has its own unique theme, ranging from ancient Rome to modern Paris, adding to the street's dazzling atmosphere. The street is famous for its entertainment offerings, including Broadway-style shows, magic acts, concerts, and Cirque du Soleil performances. Many of the resorts along the Strip have their own theaters and entertainment venues hosting top-tier productions. In addition to the casinos and resorts, the Las Vegas Strip is home to several iconic landmarks and attractions, such as the Fountains of Bellagio, the High Roller observation wheel, the Eiffel Tower replica at Paris Las Vegas, and the Volcano at The Mirage.
