The road to the beautiful twin alpine lakes is mostly paved. It’s called Angora Ridge Road (NF-1214). It’s pretty steep and narrow in parts (cars must pull off on a shoulder to allow others to pass). The road ends at a parking lot at 2.201m (7,221ft) above the sea level. There is a small parking fee at the parking lot. There is a short 1-mile (1.6 km) uphill hike to Angora Lake. Summers are crowded.
How long is the road to Angora Lakes?
Starting at the scenic Emerald Bay Road, the road to the parking lot is 8.85km (5.5 miles) long. The road eventually passes the Angora Lookout point on the ridge.
Is the road to Angora Lakes closed?
Set high in the Sierra Nevada, the road is seasonally closed in winters (approximately October 1 to May 1). The drive offers stunning vistas. Angora Lakes are the origin of short Angora Creek.
