Tucked away in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, on the south central part of Utah, the loop road is 44.25km (27.5 miles) long, starting and ending at Burr Trail Road.
Do I need a 4x4 to drive Wolverine Loop Road?
The loop road is totally unpaved. It’s been recently graded and in terrific shape. A 2WD High Clearance vehicle might drive the trail but there are a couple of rocky, uneven places where driving a low clearance family sedan is not recommended. Any four wheel or all wheel drive vehicle can handle this trail.
Is Wolverine Loop Road open?
The trail is open year-round but road conditions change rapidly. The road often becomes impassable during and after storms. Do not attempt this route if significant precipitation is in the forecast or if flooding has recently occurred.
How long does it take to drive Wolverine Loop Road?
Located near Boulder, to drive the road without stopping will take most people between 2 and 3 hours. It's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while driving. The drive offers sweeping views taking you past scenic surroundings and outstanding desert scenery.
