Tucked away in the Santa Cruz Mountains of central California, the road to the summit is totally paved. It’s called Hecker Pass Road, the western part of California State Route 152. Local legends, which date all the way back to the mid-1800s, state that there is a woman in a “white frilly dress” who haunts the area, and who sometimes attacks those who pass by in the middle of the night.

The pass is 28.48km (17.7 miles) long running west-east from Watsonville (in Santa Cruz County) to Gilroy (in Northern California's Santa Clara County). The first road through the pass was built in 1928.
